Oil tanker attacked by three shells in the Strait of Hormuz, risk premium rises
2026-09-01 07:07:43
According to CoinMeta, and as warned by UKMTO, an oil tanker was attacked with three projectiles while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. This is at least the fourth recorded projectile attack in the region in the past few days. Although no casualties or environmental impacts have been reported, the attack with three projectiles indicates an escalation in the intensity of the incidents. The price of Brent crude oil has surpassed $90, and WTI has exceeded $86. The market expects this incident to continue to drive up crude oil prices and increase the demand for safe-haven assets such as the US dollar and gold.
