Inflation in the eurozone soars to its highest level in nearly three years

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by foreign media, inflation in the eurozone has accelerated to its highest level in nearly three years, further solidifying the European Central Bank's (ECB) rationale for raising interest rates next week. The European Union Statistics Office stated on Tuesday that consumer prices rose by 3.3% year-on-year in August, up from 2.9% the previous month. This is the highest level since September 2023. Due to the war in Iran causing inflation to far exceed the target of 2%, and the eurozone economy showing unexpected resilience, the market fully expects the ECB to raise interest rates by 25 basis points on September 10, and believes that there will be more rate hikes to follow. If the ECB raises rates next week, it will solidify its position as the most hawkish central bank among the G7 countries.
