The US presses Japan to raise interest rates; Bitcoin's advantage in fixed monetary policy comes under attention
2026-09-01 19:35:05
According to CoinMeta, as reported by an early issuer of in, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen urged Japan to raise interest rates to curb the depreciation of the yen, as traditional monetary policies are susceptible to government and external factors. Bitcoin's monetary policy is predetermined by code, with new coin issuance following a fixed schedule that halves every four years, providing greater predictability. Bitcoin will find it difficult to escape the impact of traditional financial markets in the short term. If Japan raises interest rates and drives a rapid appreciation of the yen, the liquidation of low-interest yen financing transactions could trigger a sell-off of stocks, bonds, and crypto assets. In August 2024, the Bank of Japan's interest rate hike strengthened the yen, putting pressure on risky assets including Bitcoin.
