According to CoinMeta, as reported by Axios, the U.S. military attacked two Iranian government oil tankers as part of a series of military strikes launched on Tuesday. This is the first time the United States has taken action against Iranian oil tankers in retaliation for Iranian attacks on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The attacked tankers were berthed off the coast of Iran, north of the U.S. maritime blockade. U.S. drones launched missiles that hit the engine rooms of the tankers. U.S. officials stated that the targets of the attack also included Iranian Revolutionary Guard air defense positions, radar systems, mine-laying facilities, communication facilities, anti-ship cruise missile launchers, and attack drone launchers.
