According to CoinMeta, a Thai businessman has filed a lawsuit against the stablecoin issuer Tether in a New York district court, claiming that they illegally froze $42 million in Tether USDT in October 2025, which was involved in a “pork slaughtering” fraud case totaling $61 million. The plaintiff stated that Tether froze the funds without any legal order, despite admitting to their involvement in the fraud. The plaintiff is requesting the unfreezing of the funds and claiming potential punitive damages.
