Ondo Finance Calls on US Regulators to Allow Perpetual Stock Contracts
2026-09-03 02:52:45
According to CoinMeta, Ondo Finance has submitted a request to U.S. regulatory authorities, hoping to introduce perpetual futures related to individual stocks into the U.S. market. In three comment letters submitted on August 24 to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the company stated that the existing securities and futures framework can accommodate stock perpetual futures. Ondo Finance pointed out that the lack of a fixed expiration date for perpetual contracts does not prevent them from meeting the definition of securities and futures products. The company also mentioned that perpetual futures maintain market prices close to the assets they track through a regular funding payment mechanism. Ondo believes that regulatory authorities can consider these characteristics within the current legal framework, although SEC and CFTC still need to decide how to meet listing, trading, and investor protection requirements.
