2026-09-03 04:26:07
According to CoinMeta, a study by Cornell University found that Bitcoin has the highest ownership rates in El Salvador, Venezuela, and Nigeria. The survey covered 25,880 people from 25 countries. The research indicates that in countries with economic instability, limited bank access, or difficulties in obtaining US dollars, residents are more inclined to use Bitcoin as a financial tool, rather than just for speculative investment. El Salvador had the highest ownership rate, with 72% of respondents stating they have owned Bitcoin at some point. Venezuela and Nigeria also reported high exposure rates, despite facing different monetary and regulatory conditions. The study also found that men are more likely to own Bitcoin than women in each surveyed country, and the age group of 30 to 44 years old is the most stable group of owners.
