Swiss pocket and bitcoin report data breach incident, affecting 5,120 customers

According to CoinMeta, Swiss financial services provider pocket bitcoin has updated the results of its investigation into a security incident that occurred in August, stating that 5,120 customers were affected by a data breach. The exposed information included names, addresses, as well as details of bank transfers including amounts and dates. Some of the data also involved IBAN. In addition, the personal details of 291 customers were leaked, which may have included identification documents, proof of funds origin, bitcoin addresses, and residential information. pocket bitcoin stated that their customer and transaction databases were not compromised; the leaked data came from bank transaction records and lists stored in the affected customer service system. Users' bitcoin and private keys were not affected. There is currently no indication that the data has been misused, and the incident has been reported to the data protection authorities and police in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
