The four-year cycle of Bitcoin may be coming to an end, possibly shifting to a six to eight-year rhythm.

According to CoinMeta, analysts believe that Bitcoin may be shifting from its four-year halving cycle to the traditional financial rhythm of six to eight years. As the supply decreases and macroeconomic factors come into play, the familiar four-year cycle of boom and bust that Bitcoin has experienced may be losing its influence. On-chain analyst Willy Woo believes that the internal supply shocks to Bitcoin have become too minor to dominate price movements as they used to. Although Bitcoin has rebounded significantly from its lows in 2026, with trading prices approaching $70,000, it is still far below the record high of $126,000 set in October 2025. Woo argues that, although the halving mechanism is still in place, its economic impact is weakening.
