According to CoinMeta, Binance denies that any system or pricing failures caused losses of over 5 million US dollars for traders. On September 3rd, the price of the AKE / USDT perpetual contracts soared from around 0.0076 US dollars to nearly 0.045 US dollars. User Xunlu claimed that on the morning of September 3rd at 5:44 (UTC +8), over 30 arbitrage positions with funding rates on Binance were liquidated within a few minutes, resulting in losses of over 5 million USDT. Binance customer service responded that significant price fluctuations were recorded across multiple exchanges and on-chain markets, and attributed the liquidations to market conditions, rejecting the claim that technical issues caused the losses. Binance also stated that an internal review found no faults in their pricing model, risk control, or liquidation engine. The exchange emphasized that its system remained operational normally during the period of intense contract fluctuations, and that leveraged positions were exposed to the risk of adverse price changes.
