Tether CEO: Plans to Become One of the Top Five Buyers of U.S. Treasury Bonds
2026-09-06 18:00:26
According to CoinMeta, in a video interview on The Wolf of All Streets on August 30, 2026, Tether stated that they are currently the 16th or 17th largest holder of U.S. Treasury bonds globally. As the market value of USDT grows, Tether will continue to increase their holdings with the goal of entering the top ten and ultimately the top five. He pointed out that if hedge funds consolidated through the Cayman Islands are excluded, Tether is already one of the top five buyers in some short-term U.S. Treasury bond auctions. He believes that it is very dangerous for foreign countries to hold a concentrated amount of U.S. debt, as a single decision-maker could sell hundreds of billions of dollars within a day, whereas stablecoins can distribute ownership of U.S. Treasury bonds among 650 million people.
