According to CoinMeta, Ledger has released the latest progress on the security incident investigation, confirming that an unauthorized hardware implant was found on the Ledger device of one affected user, indicating that this incident involves hardware-level tampering. Ledger is in contact with the affected users and is cooperating with law enforcement authorities in the investigation. So far, there are no signs that Ledger's own security infrastructure, systems, or services have been compromised. The involved distributor, Cryptobilis, has suspended the sale of all hardware wallet products until the investigation is complete. Ledger advises users who purchased devices through this distributor to refrain from initializing those devices that have not yet been set up. Users who have completed the setup should consider creating new wallets with new mnemonic phrases and transferring their assets. Ledger also stated that they are developing more advanced hardware anti-tampering measures.
