According to CoinMeta, Professor Tristan Buckmaster warns that users should think twice before submitting their best ideas to ChatGPT. He stated that after OpenAI's model learned his name, it managed to achieve the results of his unpublished research in just one day. Buckmaster and OpenAI's competitor, Anthropic, along with mathematician Levent Alp ö ge, spent a year studying the Navier-Stokes equation, which is a fluid dynamics problem worth one million dollars. Buckmaster used OpenAI's coding assistant Codex on his personal account, with drafts stored on OpenAI's servers. He pointed out that there was no progress until he revealed his name, but shortly thereafter, OpenAI's agents had already made similar research advancements. Buckmaster expressed skepticism about OpenAI's response and advised researchers to be cautious when using AI tools in order to protect their original ideas.
