According to CoinMeta, ICE plans to launch cattle and live hog futures contracts on December 7th to compete directly with CME. Intercontinental Exchange (CME), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, also plans to introduce cattle and live hog futures contracts in order to compete with CME Group, which has long dominated this market. Meanwhile, CME is migrating its trading system to the cloud. A CME executive stated that the first batch of cattle and live hog futures contracts will be listed before the end of the year, with a target launch date of December 7th. ICE plans to offer live cattle futures with physical delivery, as well as three types of cattle and live hog price futures contracts settled in cash; all these products are still subject to regulatory review. CME, the largest futures exchange in the United States, is moving the order matching engine for some of its financial instruments to a new data center on Google Cloud. ICE hopes to use this opportunity to disrupt the current industry landscape and provide market participants with another option for risk hedging.
