2026-10-13 23:16:58
According to CoinMeta, the core development team of Solana announced that the new consensus protocol Alpenglow will go live on mainnet-beta at 22:50 on October 21st (UTC +8). Alpenglow will replace TowerBFT and eliminate the proof-of-history (PoH) mechanism, reducing the final confirmation time for transactions to about 150 milliseconds. Voting will be moved off-chain to free up block space. This protocol has already been migrated on the testnet and developmentnet, and has undergone simulation testing with 1,500 nodes, with a bounty for vulnerabilities exceeding 25,000 SOL.
