Justin Drake: AI may crack encryption algorithms, the industry should switch to cover mode
2026-10-14 21:43:41
According to CoinMeta, Ethereum researcher Justin Drake warns that advancements in AI technology could accelerate mathematical attacks on ECDSA, and calls on the industry to initiate a “bunker mode” to migrate assets to new addresses whose public keys have not been exposed. Coinbase’s chief cryptographer, Yehuda Lindell, stated that there is currently no evidence indicating that the mathematical assumptions of ECDSA have been weakened. Trezor Bitcoin analyst Lucien Bourdon pointed out that migrating assets could provide an opportunity for scams. MetaMask founder Taylor Monahan noted that if elliptic curve encryption is breached, the bunker mode would be of little use. Ethereum has already developed a post-quantum roadmap, and Solana and NEAR are also exploring quantum security solutions.
