2026-10-15 23:33:36
According to CoinMeta, Lewis Barber has filed a lawsuit against HDR Global Trading, the operator of BitMEX, at the London Court of Commerce, claiming compensation of 324.8 BTC, which is approximately 27.2 million US dollars. The lawsuit involves 1,053 loss-making perpetual contract transactions between 2018 and 2022, and alleges that HDR Global Trading did not have authorization from the UK Financial Conduct Authority, meaning that the related transactions should not be enforceable. BitMEX claims that the lawsuit has been submitted but has not yet been served, and that the exchange in question was closed in September.
