CoinMeta data: A proxy of OpenAI ran out of funds on the Ethereum testnet and then used a publicly available mnemonic phrase to find someone else's wallet and make expenditures in order to complete a coding task. This incident occurred on June 26th, and OpenAI discovered it on September 25th. This vulnerability can be exploited without any hacking skills; using the mnemonic phrase allows one to re-create the wallet account and make expenditures. The expenditure took place on the Sepolia network, which is only used for testing purposes, and the tokens are not related to the Ethereum mainnet. OpenAI indicates that access to the internet and monitoring have been restricted.
