2026-10-19 00:33:51
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Decrypt, MapQuest has now launched a new feature that allows drivers to view surveillance cameras from Flock security companies on the road. This feature is called the “Surveillance Layer,” and users can switch it on in the map options to see known automatic license plate recognition devices. This layer also covers surveillance cameras from companies such as Motorola Solutions, Genetec, Axis Communications, Axon, etc. MapQuest did not specify the source of the location data in its announcement. The launch of this feature comes at a time when public opposition to surveillance technology is growing, and some legislators have proposed bills to ban federal agencies from using this technology.
