Nine companies oppose tokenized stocks, and Wall Street's promotion on blockchain encounters obstacles
2026-10-19 19:02:47
According to CoinMeta, nine issuing companies have expressed opposition to the tokenized stock trading platform proposed by OKXICE, revealing an important power within the new trading framework of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC): companies can prevent a non-affiliated platform from trading their stocks. The companies that oppose it include Broadcom, Verizon, and CoreWeave, among others. A public notice dated October 15 recorded these objections, indicating that the joint venture is preparing for a blockchain-based securities market. The notice did not provide a start date nor explain the specific reasons for each company's opposition. Under a temporary exemption granted by SEC, formal opposition will prevent the platform from offering affected third-party tokens.
