According to CoinMeta, Coinbase has partnered with Singapore’s payment network Thunes to link stablecoin transfers with bank accounts and mobile wallet receipts, covering billions of accounts. This collaboration is aimed at supplier payments, gig income disbursement, and international remittances, allowing recipients to receive funds in real-time through bank accounts or mobile wallets. Coinbase will integrate with Thunes’s Direct Global Network to gain access to local clearing systems and alternative payment methods for receiving payments. Thunes is responsible for the “last mile” of funds reaching the recipient’s bank account or mobile wallet, with a network covering over 140 countries and more than 90 currencies. Coinbase will provide the stablecoin infrastructure to help Thunes further incorporate these tokens into their business operations. Thunes states that its network connects over 12 billion mobile wallets, stablecoin wallets, and bank accounts, covering more than 220 payment methods.
