According to CoinMeta, the governance organization House of Stake has initiated a voting process regarding proposal hsp-029. After a 90-day grace period, they plan to gradually reduce the annual token issuance rate of NEAR from 2.5% to 1.6% over a period of 24 months in order to minimize token dilution. It is estimated that after implementation, about 11.8 million NEAR tokens will be reduced in the first two years, and a total of approximately 66.1 million tokens will be reduced over six years. The current distribution ratio of staking rewards to treasury funds, which is 90:10, will remain unchanged. Assuming a staking participation rate of 42.71%, the expected annualized staking yield is projected to decrease from 5.268% to 3.372%. This proposal aims to reduce token dilution while also taking into account network security and the sustainable operation of validators.
