Kazakhstani court bans six crypto platforms from providing services on AIFC

According to CoinMeta, the Financial Services Authority of Astana, Kazakhstan (AFSA), has obtained a court ban from the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) prohibiting six crypto platforms – Coinbase, BingX, Bitcoin.com, Huobi Global (HTX), BitMart, and Weex – from distributing mobile applications within the AIFC region without obtaining a license. The court made it clear that this ban applies only to the AIFC financial center, which has its own independent legal and regulatory framework, and to local users, and does not constitute a ban across the entire territory of Kazakhstan. The ruling also imposes constraints on app stores such as Google and Apple, but the court has not yet issued a direct ban on these app stores, requiring AFSA to communicate with them first. In addition, due to the services of these platforms already being blocked in the country, LBank was removed as part of the judgment. Previously, in 2023, Coinbase faced website blocking in Kazakhstan for suspected violations of the country's "Digital Assets Law."
