According to CoinMeta, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei rarely publishes lengthy defenses on social media, stating that the company must maintain a leading position in AI research and development, despite the rapid technological progress of AI which may require a slowdown. He pointed out that Anthropic recently submitted a draft AI security bill to U.S. congressmen, which has been questioned. The draft sets high thresholds for the government to urgently halt dangerous models, requiring that the risks involve biological weapons, cyberattacks, or AI loss of control, among other situations, and could result in over 50 deaths or serious injuries, or losses exceeding $1 billion. Amodei acknowledges that the company has made mistakes, but insists that competing for the most advanced AI capabilities does not violate its safety mission. The company plans to propose relevant policy solutions by January 15, 2027, or to explain why it has not done so yet.
