According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Cointelegraph, the French General Tax Office, Financial Markets Authority, Central Bank, and Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority have jointly proposed amendments to the European Union's "Regulations on Crypto Asset Markets" (MiCA). These proposals require platforms that offer access to decentralized finance (DEFI) protocols to conduct prior reviews of these protocols, continuously monitor for vulnerabilities and suspicious activities, and assume responsibility for any losses incurred by certain customers in cases where they fail to fulfill their review obligations or ignore known security risks. Platforms are still allowed to connect to unauthenticated protocols after conducting their own due diligence and enhancing risk disclosures, with the relevant obligations being adjusted based on the platform's size. Additionally, France supports the transfer of regulatory authority over major crypto asset service providers to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and aims to lower the current threshold for determining what constitutes a major provider.
