Tokyo Stock Exchange data error criticized for misleading KaiXia investors
2026-10-23 13:44:03
According to CoinMeta, a set of incorrect data released by the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) showed that Kajima Holdings' leveraged long positions had significantly decreased, leading some investors to mistakenly believe that the selling pressure had eased. The data indicated that as of October 20th, Kajima's outstanding short-selling positions had decreased by 15.65 million shares to 31.17 million shares. The exchange corrected the data the following day, showing that the short-selling positions had actually increased to 46.94 million shares. Tomoichiro Kubota, the chief market analyst at Matsui Securities, stated that the incorrect data led people to think that Kajima's outstanding short-selling positions had significantly decreased, and therefore the stock price might be approaching a bottom. He pointed out that the short-selling positions need to decrease for the stock price to have a chance of rebounding, but such a signal has not actually appeared yet.
