ECB: Consumer inflation expectations rose in September

According to CoinMeta, a monthly survey released by the European Central Bank on Friday showed that inflation expectations among eurozone households rose slightly in September, with consumers expecting prices to rise by 3.1% over the coming year, up from 3% predicted in August. The three-year inflation indicator remained at 2.9%, and the five-year inflation indicator stayed at 2.5%. The market generally expects the European Central Bank to keep interest rates unchanged next week, but economists surveyed by Bloomberg believe that a third and possibly final interest rate hike could occur in December. Although the inflation rate is close to 4%, which is twice the ECB's target, it is mainly driven by rising energy prices. Officials stated that they have not seen any secondary effects, such as wage increases.
