South Korea to Require Crypto Companies to Report Overseas Transfers
2026-10-23 19:34:10
According to CoinMeta, the South Korean Ministry of Finance and Economy announced that starting from December 3, 2026, crypto companies will be required to register and report foreign currency transactions compulsorily. The new regulations will bring cross-border virtual asset transfers under formal monitoring, including transactions from exchanges and private wallets. The government will accept public comments until October 26 before finalizing the implementation requirements. This change is based on the amendment to the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act passed by the National Assembly on May 7 and announced on June 2, which establishes a new category for registering virtual asset transfers, covering specific services for transferring cryptocurrencies between South Korea and overseas markets.
