According to CoinMeta, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he has requested the development of a plan to utilize cryptocurrencies and blockchain networks to help Israel avoid potential banking sanctions. He made these comments in an interview on Israel's tenth channel, just four days before the national election. Netanyahu expressed some confidence that the United States would stop providing military funding to Israel, saying, "It's only a matter of time." He told Israelis to get used to no longer "receiving billions of dollars in American aid." He mentioned that "sanctions may be imposed, including banking sanctions," and stated that "we must prepare an alternative economy and consider currencies that can circumvent these restrictions. I am working on this." One of the alternative solutions he mentioned is the use of cryptocurrencies and decentralized technologies. Netanyahu said, "Blockchain is undoubtedly one of the alternatives." If approved, Israel will join a small group of countries that include Venezuela, Iran, Russia, and North Korea, which have already tried similar methods.
