According to CoinMeta, the Argentine authorities announced the dismissal of the case against President Macri and 10 other individuals regarding the $libra token, ruling that no criminal behavior was committed. A federal judge determined that the facts did not constitute a crime, and Macri, his sister Karina, as well as the American individual Hayden Davis who was responsible for launching the token, were cleared of suspicion. On February 14, 2025, Macri promoted the $libra token on social media, and within just one hour its market value exceeded $4 billion. However, within about 11 hours, its value plummeted by over 94%, resulting in losses for 86% of traders, totaling $251 million. Meanwhile, eight wallets associated with the $libra team withdrew $107 million. Macri deleted the relevant posts and denied any involvement with the token. The judge ruled that the collapse alone did not constitute fraud, pointing out the volatility and risks of the cryptocurrency market. The case will be closed once the ruling takes effect, and Macri stated that he acted in good faith.
