According to CoinMeta, cryptocurrency payment service provider redotpay has announced the acquisition of Japanese cryptocurrency exchange btcbox through btcbox. redotpay currently does not hold a license to operate in the Japanese cryptocurrency market and will gradually limit and terminate its existing services for Japanese residents. It has also suspended new user registrations in Japan and removed app from its platform. btcbox was established in 2014, obtained its trading license in September 2017, and had to suspend services after a customer information breach in January this year, before resuming operations in stages starting from August 3. redotpay will provide financial and technical support to btcbox.
