Bitcoin Core Updates Security Policy, AI Vulnerabilities That Are Easy to Discover Will Be Fixed and Released Immediately
2026-10-24 21:14:36
According to CoinMeta, Bitcoin Core has changed the approach to handling security vulnerabilities. For vulnerabilities in AI that are easy to detect, they have decided to abandon the long-term policy of keeping them confidential and have switched to immediately backport fixing them and releasing new versions. This policy update was merged this Thursday and was initiated by Chaincode Labs developer Antoine Poinsot. The advent of large language models has lowered the barriers to detecting vulnerabilities and identifying code fixes, leading to a surge in reports of such vulnerabilities.
