Bitcoin Core Security Rules Updated, AI Helps in Vulnerability Discovery
2026-10-25 06:43:51
According to CoinMeta, developers stated that Bitcoin Core has modified its security rules to address the situation where certain vulnerabilities can be detected with simple hints due to AI. Developers will accelerate the fixing of easily detectable defects and issue security announcements when updates are made, rather than adopting lengthy disclosure bans. Developer Antoine Poinsot noted that AI significantly lowers the threshold for detecting vulnerabilities and makes the quietly introduced fixations easier to discover, thereby making long-term confidentiality less effective. Other vulnerabilities will still follow the existing disclosure schedule, which may continue for about a year after the fixes are released. This change is aimed at providing patches to node operators more quickly, and no new Bitcoin vulnerabilities or network compromises have been announced.
