Jeff Yan: Hyperliquid is more like the internet or Linux rather than a traditional exchange
2026-10-25 07:58:46
According to CoinMeta, Hyperliquid Labs, co-founder with Jeff Yan, stated on October 7th that he does not believe Hyperliquid should simply be positioned as a competitor to certain exchanges. He mentioned that in the past, it was compared to the DEFI protocol, later it was associated with large crypto exchanges, and now even CME and NASDAQ are used as references, but there is never a perfect match. Jeff believes that Hyperliquid is more akin to the internet or Linux; what matters is providing a set of neutral public infrastructure, rather than creating many duplicate systems. He emphasized that the Hyperliquid community is not meant to replace existing platforms, but rather to enable these platforms to also utilize relevant technologies for their own users.
