Becent: Genius Act Establishes a Regulatory Framework for Stablecoins
2026-10-25 18:46:02
According to CoinMeta, the US Monetary Supervision Agency has finally established regulatory rules for stablecoins, covering reserve support, redemption, and risk management. These rules apply to licensed stablecoin issuers and regulated entities and will come into effect on January 18, 2027. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen described this as a watershed moment for the US financial industry, as the legislation establishes a federal framework for payment stablecoins in the digital age. The final rules do not incorporate provisions from the Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering laws, or sanctions regulations. The legislation was signed into law in July 2025, and the Federal Reserve proposed two related rules in September 2026.
