Trump: Iran's Asian oil reserves are depleted, increasing economic pressure

According to CoinMeta, Trump stated that Iran's oil reserves in Asia have been depleted, leading to a sharp decline in the oil inventories of American oil companies in Iran and resulting in a loss of $25 billion in revenue due to the sanctions. According to Kpler and reports by The Wall Street Journal, Iran's offshore crude oil inventories in Asia have been "completely exhausted" after months of naval blockade by the US Navy. Currently, Iran has the world's third-largest proven oil reserves, amounting to about 208.6 billion barrels. At the beginning of the war, its overseas floating inventories plummeted from 135 million barrels to almost zero by mid-October. Oil sales account for 30% to 40% of the Iranian government's revenue, making the sanctions a major financial blow. Iran's crude oil production has decreased by about 40%, from 3.26 million barrels per day in 2025 to 1.96 million barrels in September 2026. Kpler warns that if the sanctions continue, Iran's oil and condensate export revenues could drop to zero by mid-December. Meanwhile, the price of Brent crude oil remains above $110 per barrel, which benefits some American oil producers while increasing fuel costs for American consumers. Although Iran is still one of the richest oil-producing countries in the world, its opportunities to enter the global market are shrinking as Washington exerts economic pressure on Tehran.
