Coinbase: Seven major banks have already adopted its infrastructure
2026-10-27 08:12:43
According to CoinMeta, an executive from Coinbase stated in an interview with Bitcoin Magazine that seven large global banks are already using the infrastructure provided by Coinbase. Coinbase currently occupies about 90% of the bitcoin custody market share. He pointed out that institutional capital is experiencing a "second wave" of entry driven by stablecoin payments, with the focus shifting from bitcoin ETF to stablecoin payments and on-chain settlements. Tejpaul described the banking industry as going through a "Kodak moment," where stablecoins enable funds to be transferred from traditional bank accounts to USDC and cross-border settlements can be completed within seconds. However, he admitted that bitcoin's recent performance has been disappointing, and despite a favorable macro environment, institutions still mainly regard it as a type of technology stock transaction.
