The political narrative surrounding the "Hunter Biden laptop" incident is being packaged into a new cryptocurrency. According to reports by The Wall Street Journal and Business Insider, it is called $ LAPTOP The Meme coin will start trading on September 9th.

Hunter Biden announced the token name and launch date on the X platform this week, along with a video clip related to the “laptop” incident. Reports mention that this adds him to a list of political figures who have launched personal or affiliated tokens, including U.S. President Donald Trump, Melania Trump, and former New York Mayor Eric Adams.
Politics Meme has attracted attention multiple times in recent years, but its price trend tends to be very volatile. Business Insider Quoting analysts, such tokens often rely on the popularity of topics and have weak sustainability.
Comparison of Trump tokens

The report mentioned that Trump's homonymous Meme coin, after its launch at the end of January 2025, around the time of his inauguration, once rose to around $75, only to then fall significantly. Last month, the token dropped to around $1.35, and on Tuesday, it was reported to be around $2.26.

She pointed out that $TRUMP still occupies about 80% of the market value in its respective niche segment, indicating that this market is not uncharted territory but is already dominated by a single token.
Market participants question the actual use
Some market observers also pointed out that, similar to most Meme tokens, $LAPTOP itself does not have a clear practical use and mainly relies on the dissemination of topics related to public figures.
The CEO of the tokenization platform Brickken, Edwin Mata, stated that such issuances may allow a few participants to profit, but many buyers end up holding assets that lack fundamental value support. He also noted that although such projects are easy to attract traffic, they can also distract the market's attention from blockchain infrastructure and actual financial application projects.
