Joe Gebbia, the chief design officer of the United States, stated on Tuesday that the new chatbot launched by the Trump administration, aimed at helping Americans navigate official government websites, is powered by artificial intelligence provided by Google's Gemini and Elon Musk's Grok.
Not long before going live on the website at America.gov Eastern Time in the United States, Gibia said about CNBC's Squawk Box: "We have great partners behind us."
Google, as well as Grok developer xAI (which has been acquired by SpaceX and renamed SpaceXAI), did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment.
Gibia said to CNBC, "Every day, 40 million people interact with government websites in an attempt to accomplish something. I think we all agree that it could be better."
The website was unveiled at a one-day event held in the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington. U.S. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, as well as other government officials and industry leaders, attended the event.
In his speech at the event, Trump said, "This is not just a website. It is a restoration of the promises made at the founding of America, and it is also a reshaping of your government for the 21st century and beyond."
The White House told CNBC that this event will also include a series of panel discussions on artificial intelligence and other topics, with issues such as energy, healthcare, space, and agriculture being discussed.
