Columbus, Ohio, September 29, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- The Ohio State University and Google today announced a new strategic partnership to accelerate scientific discoveries, expand the use of technology across the campus, support the development of AI literacy, and help students from their enrollment to graduation and beyond.
The plan will establish an on-campus AI space within the Ohio State University Innovation Park, which includes collaboration with Google DeepMind; at the same time, through Google, for, and Education, access to Gemini Enterprise and Gemini Notebook will be provided throughout the university, and a dedicated Student Research Ambassador program will be launched.
This collaboration is one of the largest between Google Public Sector and American universities, combining the leading research and academic programs of The Ohio State University with Google Cloud's comprehensive AI optimized technology stack and high-performance computing capabilities.

Accelerate the construction of scientific research and computing capabilities
This collaboration focuses on advancing transformative scientific discoveries, covering the core research pillars of the hub, including biomedical engineering, earth sciences, and humanities. University researchers facing complex challenges will have access to over 200 AI models, a supercomputing system optimized with AI, as well as technologies from Google DeepMind.
The main components of scientific research include:
- AI Model and Google DeepMind Access Permissions:Researchers at The Ohio State University will be granted access to Google DeepMind advanced scientific models, such as AlphaFold, Google Earth Engine, as well as proxy-based AI models like AlphaEvolve, in order to accelerate breakthrough progress.
- Google AI for Science:As one of the first leading R1 research universities, The Ohio State University will obtain enterprise-level access to Google AI research agents through Gemini Enterprise, helping researchers to shorten the discovery cycle by generating and testing scientific hypotheses.
- SCARLET Project:This is a human performance platform driven by AI, which utilizes predictive models, computer vision, and advanced analytics to optimize the training, recovery, and health management of "acorn" athletes in all 36 sports events. The platform was custom-developed in collaboration with the Sports Performance Innovation Team at The Ohio State University.

New tools tailored for students will transform the campus experience at The Ohio State University, offering personalized AI assistants, advanced career development tools, and unique experiential learning opportunities.
Measures focused on students include:
- Expand the use of technology:Through Google for Education, some students, teachers, and staff will be able to use Google Workspace for Education and Gemini Enterprise.
- Student Concierge Service Experience:The Ohio State University will launch a 24/7 virtual assistant driven by Google Cloud AI. This student concierge assistant will enhance academic counseling, registration services, and career path planning, providing each student with a smoother and more personalized experience.
- Scientific Research Ambassador Program:A pioneering Google Public Sector Ambassador Program will recruit students from The Ohio State University to work alongside Google teams, providing them with hands-on experience in industry practice.
