A report released on Wednesday by ADP shows that new private sector jobs in the United States rebounded after a brief slowdown in September, further indicating that the U.S. labor market has begun to stabilize.

This payroll processing company stated that in September, the number of employees increased by 90,000, which is higher than the revised figure of 36,000 in August and also exceeds the consensus forecast of 68,000 from a Dow Jones survey.

The report also shows that the overall structure is relatively balanced, with service providers adding 59,000 new jobs, and the commodity production sector adding 31,000 new jobs.

Basic salary increased by 3.2% year-on-year, and total compensation grew at a faster rate of 4.7%.

ADP Chief Economist Nela Richardson stated: "This is a strong report. After three months of slowdown, job creation has rebounded, and salary growth remains solid."

The education and healthcare services industries contributed the most, with 55,000 new jobs created. Other sectors that saw growth included leisure and hospitality, which added 22,000 new jobs, manufacturing with 17,000 new jobs, and construction with 15,000 new jobs.

A decrease in employment has been observed in a few industries, including a reduction of 16,000 jobs in financial activities, 11,000 jobs in professional and business services, and 1,000 jobs in natural resources and mining.

Regionally, employment growth mainly came from the Northeastern United States, with 56,000 new jobs created. In terms of company size, companies with 50 to 499 employees added 54,000 new jobs.

Overall, this report confirms the views of several Federal Reserve officials that, despite concerns about growth in 2025, the labor market remains generally strong. Policymakers currently believe that the greater policy risk is persistent inflation; it is this inflationary pressure that prompted the central bank to raise the benchmark lending rate by 25 basis points earlier in September.

ADP Data is generally regarded as a leading indicator for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' non-farm payroll report released on Friday. Wall Street generally expects that non-farm employment in September will increase by 84,000 jobs, lower than the 162,000 jobs added last month, while the unemployment rate is expected to remain unchanged at 4.1%.
