On Thursday, while launching a redesigned Kindle product line, Amazon also announced a series of new accessories. The new generation of Kindle features a slimmer design, a borderless appearance, and a lighter feel to the touch. Among them, a remote control named Kindle Click priced at $34.99 is particularly noteworthy.

Kindle Click is a compact Bluetooth remote control designed to allow readers to turn pages without even touching the Kindle. The idea is simple, but it could solve a quite common annoyance for e-reader users: every time they want to go to the next page, they have to reach out and tap the screen.

This small remote control is mainly designed for scenarios where it is not convenient to touch the Kindle. Amazon has specifically targeted it for several situations, such as reading in bed, reading on a treadmill, or placing the Kindle on a small table while flying. Users do not need to reach out to grab the e-reader; they can simply press the buttons on the remote control to turn pages.

This new accessory is compatible with all new Kindle devices, as well as Kindle models released in 2024 and thereafter.

For many years, Kindle users have mainly relied on third-party accessories. Many of these products use a clip-on structure to achieve page turning by physically touching the screen, rather than communicating directly with Kindle.

Kindle Click also allowed Amazon to enter a category where competitors had already begun making arrangements. For example, Lotte Kobo launched a Kobo Remote last year for $29.99. There is also BOOX Tappy on the market, which is a wireless page-turner priced at $29.99 and designed for BOOX e-paper devices.

Although Amazon's Kindle Click pricing is higher than that of these competing accessories, the company may be betting that Kindle users are willing to pay for officially designed accessories specifically for this product line. This new Kindle product line is one of the most significant physical design overhauls in recent years. Amazon claims that its display's page-turning speed is 30% faster than that of the previous generation.

As part of the new Kindle family, Amazon has also announced other accessories, including a magnetic protective case with physical page-turning buttons, as well as charging dock stands suitable for Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
