The award-winning podcast “Office Hours : Business Edition” launched by the College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Haslam, has returned with a new season.
The first season of this podcast exceeded 2.3 million views on YouTube, and it gained recognition from Telly Awards and Webby Awards, making “Office Hours : Business Edition” a platform that continues to grow and is used to present in-depth conversations with business leaders.
The new season begins with the CEO of United Airlines, Scott Kirby. He had an in-depth conversation with host Monica Langley on topics including the future of air travel, artificial intelligence, leadership, and more.
Kirby calls for an ambitious and competitive approach that should not be limited to aerospace technology alone.
"Our initial goal was to become the best airline in the history of aviation,"He explained that,"I now hope that we can become one of the best consumer brands in the world."
This conversation reflects the approach that Office Hours has adhered to since its launch: to bring viewers in contact with influential business leaders and explore the experiences and decisions behind their public successes. Langley also asked Kirby questions regarding current hot topics, including the increasingly widespread topic of artificial intelligence.
“Most people use AI in a ridiculous way,”Kirby stated in a key segment of the interview.
The conversation between Kirby and Langley also highlighted the leadership philosophy and resilience of this CEO, especially his principle of “no excuses”.
"There will always be bad things that happen in life, as well as things that are completely beyond your control, and there will also be unfair things that occur."Kirby said,"You can feel sorry for yourself, complain, and grumble, or you can say, 'This is what I'm going to do next, I'll keep moving forward.'"
Season 2 will also bring some of the conversations out of the traditional executive offices.
Langley represents:In the new season, this podcast will continue to invite guests with high visibility and significant influence to discuss important topics ranging from current economic issues to personal leadership experiences. However, we will also step out of the conference room and incorporate some fun hands-on segments as well.
During the recording with Kirby, Langley also operated the company's flight simulator in the core area of the United Airlines Denver Training Center.
