According to a new study, American investors are more interested in increasing their Bitcoin holdings compared to stocks.

AXA Financial ( Charles Schwab ) released its 2026 "Modern Wealth Survey" ( Modern Wealth Survey ) on Wednesday. The survey indicates that current cryptocurrency investors wish to continue increasing their holdings.

The study found that a total of 60% of respondents plan to increase their investments in the next 12 months, a proportion higher than that of holders of all other investment categories covered by the survey, including ETF (56%), stocks (52%), bonds (42%), and mutual funds (41%).

Joe Vietri, the head of digital assets at AXA Financial Management, stated in a statement: "Existing cryptocurrency investors are clearly increasing their investments, especially young investors, who drive most of the interest and momentum in the cryptocurrency sector."

He also said, "But in my view, the bigger story is that cryptocurrencies are increasingly being seen as a complement to traditional investments."

Charles Schwab is the largest custodian institution in the field of registered investment advisors in the United States ( RIA ). Earlier this year, the company began to roll out Schwab Crypto to retail customers in phases, allowing them to trade Bitcoin directly and access educational content and professional support.

Charles Schwab also offers exchange-traded funds (ETFs) linked to cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin futures, as well as its own Schwab Crypto Thematic Index ETF. CEO Rick Wurster has stated that the cryptocurrencies held by Charles Schwab clients account for more than 20% of the total volume of such products in the industry.

A report released on Wednesday also stated that currently one-fifth of Americans hold cryptocurrencies, while another one-fifth indicate that they do not hold any yet but are interested in purchasing them. Among investors, nearly half hold cryptocurrencies.

The report further indicates that millennials are most likely to hold cryptocurrencies, with their holding ratio exceeding that of the baby boomers by four times.

This online survey was conducted by Logica Research from August 24 to September 17, 2026, with a sample of 2,000 Americans aged between 21 and 75 years old across the United States.
