Goodbye, Amazon Fire tablet. Its lifespan was even longer than that of Fire Phone.
15 years after launching the Fire tablet, this e-commerce giant is now discontinuing this product line and replacing it with a series of new tablets that come at a higher price and are equipped with Alexa + voice assistants.
An Amazon spokesperson told Business Insider that the company will continue to sell existing Fire tablet inventory, but will no longer produce new devices under this brand.

The new Amazon Alexa Tablets uses Google's Android operating system and has access to the Google Play store. These products are now available for purchase and will be shipped on October 14th in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Amazon offers the Alexa Tablet 12, Pro, Alexa Tablet 11, and Alexa Tablet 8 models with aluminum bodies, priced ranging from $229.99 to $499.99.
An Amazon spokesperson stated, " Alexa Tablets is a new product line designed for the future – this will not change the current user experience of Fire tablet users. The Fire tablet remains an independent product and will continue to receive full support as well as ongoing security updates. Customers who enjoy the Fire tablets can still continue to use them."
This is not the first time Amazon has abandoned devices with the Fire brand. The company's Fire Phone was once a highly anticipated failed product, which Amazon founder Jeff Bezos later described as "a trivial episode."
