Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the "energy ceasefire" mediated by the United States, but on Monday he warned that Moscow must also do the same.
Zelensky said in a live speech on Monday morning that if Russia does not agree to the energy ceasefire announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, Ukraine will respond.
He said, "If Americans need it, we are ready to sign these guarantees to ensure they are trustworthy, and importantly, we all view this situation in the same way." He also stated that Russia has already violated the energy ceasefire.
"Throughout this entire morning, an increasing number of Russian jet-powered 'Shahed' drones continued to enter the airspace over Kiev and other Ukrainian cities. We downed many of them, and if not for that, Ukraine's energy infrastructure would have undoubtedly suffered even more damage."
He said, "For now, this appears to be Putin's response to Trump."
Previously, on Sunday, Zelenskyy expressed regret over Russia's ongoing attacks on Ukrainian energy targets, including an attack on a power plant in Kharkov in eastern Ukraine, near the Russian border.
