Milwaukee, October 12th / PRNewswire / -- On September 24th, employees of this national consulting and accounting firm participated together across the United States in the 22nd Community Day. Through volunteer services and charitable donations, the employees not only strengthened their local communities but also demonstrated Wipfli's long-standing commitment to making a positive impact beyond the workplace.
This year, a total of 660 employees provided volunteer services to 64 non-profit organizations, contributing a combined 2,298 hours. From packing meals and supporting food banks to building housing and advancing community projects, various teams collaborated with relevant organizations to address some of the most urgent needs in the communities where their employees live and work.
Wipfli CEO Kurt Gresens stated: "What makes Community Day special is not the projects we have completed, but rather seeing our employees temporarily put aside their daily work to devote their time, energy, and passion to the community they call home. I am proud of the change we bring to our employees every day, and I am especially proud of what we have accomplished together at Community Day."
Inspirational Stories
For many employees, Community Day provides an opportunity to see firsthand how their efforts lead to meaningful results.
Partner Jason Smith said: "Our team went from Community Day to Northern Illinois Food Bank to do volunteer service, helping to provide fresh food for families in the Rockford community of Illinois. Working alongside other volunteers and knowing that we helped support over 500 neighboring families, that experience was incredibly fulfilling. Community Day reflects what I value most in Wipfli: giving back to society and bringing meaningful change to the communities we serve."
Other employees devote their time to projects related to affordable housing and hunger relief.
The Alliance Management Director, Dean Roder, stated: "Volunteering at Habitat, for, and Humanity has given me the opportunity to help build a house that will soon belong to a young family, and this could be their first home of their own in their family's history. What touched me the most is that the impact of Habitat goes far beyond just providing a house. By making long-term investments in the community, they are helping to create a stronger community and bringing lasting benefits to families, schools, and local residents. It means a lot to me to be able to contribute, even in a small way, to providing more affordable, safe, and high-quality housing in this great city. Community Day is a way for Wipfli to put their values into action, rather than just leaving them as slogans on the walls of meeting rooms."
In Feed My Starving Children of Schaumburg in Illinois, volunteers packed 36,936 meals, which is enough to provide daily meals for 101 children for a whole year.
Senior Manager Rusty Planert said, "What resonates with me about this organization is the clear visibility of the impact they have. As an auditor, I appreciate how they effectively measure their results and transform volunteer time into meaningful outcomes for children facing hunger issues. Community Day is one of my favorite days of the year; it reminds us of the achievements we can make when we bring the same teamwork and dedication we use when serving our clients to causes that benefit others."
Invest in lasting impact.
The impact of Community Day is not limited to a day of volunteer service. Through Wipfli Foundation and Community Support Program, employees receive charitable donation quotas that they can designate for eligible non-profit organizations of their choice. This year, the program is expected to contribute over $106,000 to further support the causes that are most important to employees and their communities.
