Google has achieved an accuracy rate of 99.99% in "magic state" preparation. The article states that this advancement will not pose a threat to blockchain security for the time being, but to crack the ECC that protects wallets and signatures, the current architecture still needs to be expanded by 100,000 times; the article also lists Quantum Resistant Ledger, Algorand, and other quantum-resistant blockchains.

Google Achieves "Magical State" Quantum Breakthrough; 5 Anti-Quantum Blockchains Worth Paying Attention To

Google has achieved an accuracy rate of 99.99% in constructing the "magical state," which is an indispensable component of stable and useful quantum computers.

Currently, blockchain systems are still relatively secure; however, Google would need to expand the existing architecture by 100,000 times in order to potentially crack the ECC used by blockchain.

Quantum Resistant Ledger and Algorand are among the blockchain networks with the greatest quantum resistance in the ecosystem.

Google has made a breakthrough in "magical state cultivation," once again drawing market attention to the leading quantum-ready blockchain and cryptocurrencies in the digital ecosystem.

Google's Quantum Milestones and Their Impact on Blockchain

Google has achieved a magic state generation accuracy of 99.99%, and the magic state is a key element required for quantum computers to produce meaningful results.

According to a paper published in Science by Google Quantum AI, the company is now capable of implementing magic state cultivation on its Willow quantum processors, which has reduced the error rate by 40 times compared to the un-cultivated state.

Previously, creating magic states for fault-tolerant quantum computers required 95% of their computing power, with only 5% remaining for actual calculations. This advancement with Google utilizes approximately half of the computer's 105 physical quantum bits, making it more efficient at a lower cost.

Google This milestone has reduced the magic state error rate to one in ten thousand. Cryptocurrencies are still safe at present because to crack the elliptic curve cryptography that protects wallets and signatures (ECC), the current architecture would need to be expanded by 100,000 times. In addition, to crack Bitcoin, at least 1,200 to 1,450 stable logical qubits are required, while there are currently only 105.

Quantum-resistant blockchain

With this progress, we are getting closer to what is known as Q-Day. Several blockchains have already implemented post-quantum cryptography measures approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the United States (NIST).

  • Quantum Resistant Ledger ( QRL )
This is one of the few networks that has built-in quantum resistance from the very beginning, so in the future, there will be no need to fix vulnerabilities through hard forks. It uses a hash-based encryption method and has been online since 2018. According to Blockchain Quantum Readiness Index, it is one of the most quantum-safe blockchains in the ecosystem.
  • Algorand ( ALGO )
Algorand ranks at the top of the list with a market value of $1.07 billion, as it is a mature institutional-level Layer-1 ecosystem. It utilizes lattice-based digital signatures to achieve quantum security.
  • Abelian ( ABEL )
This is a blockchain that also adopts Layer-1, which is based on lattice cryptography from the very beginning of its design, and it offers customizable levels of privacy.
  • Mochimo ( MCM )
Mochimo is a native post-quantum network that has been running its mainnet since 2018 and utilizes hash-based encryption technology.
  • QANplatform ( QAN )
This is a Layer-1 network aimed at developers, which combines lattice-based and hash-based mechanisms to protect smart contracts compatible with EVM.

In addition, Cellframe ( CELL ) and Nervous Network ( CKB ) are also following closely behind. At the same time, mainstream cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and Ethereum have both proposed quantum-safe execution solutions; among them, Ethereum has one of the most active roadmaps towards this goal.
