Zayo ranked 6th in Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD's mid-2026 US Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD rankings, rising from a previous position on the list. Vertical Systems Group stated that this change is related to Zayo's acquisition of Crown Castle's Fiber Solutions business.
This LEADERBOARD ranks US Carrier Ethernet service providers based on their retail port share as of June 30, 2026. To be included in the LEADERBOARD, providers must hold a 4% or higher share of the US retail Ethernet service market; those with a market share between 1% and 4% are classified as part of the Challenge Tier.
Zayo completed the acquisition of Crown Castle Fiber Solutions in May 2026, expanding its coverage in urban areas of the United States and increasing its reach among businesses.
It is claimed that the Fiber Solutions business of Crown Castle has added approximately 90,000 route miles in metropolitan areas and around 40,000 locations of enterprises connected to the network for Zayo. The merged network covers 32 million fiber optic miles and 224,000 route miles in North America, further expanding the coverage and density of Zayo in metropolitan areas and complementing its extensive long-distance network.
A total of 7 providers have entered the mid-2026 period with at least a 4% market share in US retail Ethernet services LEADERBOARD.
