New York, October 21st / PRNewswire / -- A technology company dedicated to providing sustainable income for everyone, Whop, announced today the completion of a $200 million Series D financing round, raising its post-investment valuation to $5.1 billion. The round was led by Sequoia and Shopify Ventures. The new funds will accelerate Whop's global expansion and research and development efforts, aiming to make the payment and advertising markets "significantly more efficient."

This round of financing is Whop's second funding round this year. The company announced in February of this year that it had received a strategic investment of $200 million from Tether, with a valuation of $1.6 billion at that time.

Fundamental changes are taking place in the workplace, and AI is calling into question traditional career paths. Entry-level job opportunities are at their lowest levels in history (Forbes). "For a generation that is at a disadvantage from the start, Whop represents a way for individuals to take control of their economic future," the original text states.

The core customers of Whop range from product leaders of rapidly growing startups to 16-year-old first-time entrepreneurs. Whop provides gamified interfaces and a wide range of API for business operators, supporting distribution, business creation, and capital flow.

Whop indicates that approximately 25,000 business operators generate $550 million in revenue each month on Whop. Whop also brings income to over 50,000 other individuals who provide value to these companies on a monthly basis.

Whop, Co-Founder and CEO, Steven Schwartz stated: "When designing Whop, we drew inspiration from the traditional economy. Since businesses are the main channels for people to earn money and create value, we target businesses as our primary customers."

He stated that most of the companies on Whop serve the needs of highly segmented customers, rather than offering a wide range of products for the mass market. The internet has enabled companies to reach markets that were previously too fragmented or dispersed to build businesses around. Businesses built natively on Whop include: invoicing software for truck companies, emergency tree removal services, private jet booking platforms, digital banks for freight forwarders, and markets that provide data for humanoid robot companies.

Sequoia Capital partner Doug Leone stated: “Their revenue is around 500 million US dollars, and they are doing very well in their business. We are helping to create enterprises for those who cannot find jobs.”

In the past three months, Whop has launched the following products:

  • Business Blueprints: New operators can launch a directly sellable business with just a few clicks. Since the product was launched 6 weeks ago, over 21,000 enterprises have been created through Blueprints.
  • Whop CLI: Launched in July, it enables the API of Whop to be compatible with any AI agent and allows operators to run services through prompts. The Whop CLI and MCP connectors receive over 350,000 calls per day, with more than 14,700 monthly active users.
  • Economic Intelligence: A decision-making engine trained on millions of transactions, capable of recommending the next steps with the highest return on investment for each enterprise. To use Economic Intelligence, enterprises are required to pay a additional percentage of their revenue generated through this system to the platform.

Whop is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and has offices in New York. The company is currently recruiting for positions in engineering, product development, sales, and operations.
